Top 5 Reasons to Get a Breast Augmentation

1) Your clothing does not fit as desired

Some women feel that their breasts are out of proportion with the rest of their body, causing their clothes to fit awkwardly. Perhaps you have a pear-shape with wide hips yet very small breasts, and find that you feel awkward in form-fitting dresses. Or you may feel that your smaller breasts make you look boxy and showcase features such as broad shoulders that make you feel less feminine. Whatever the reason, if you feel like your clothing doesn’t fit the way it should due to your breast size, a breast augmentation may be the right choice for you. Take control over your body and turn getting dressed for the day or a nighttime soiree from a disappointing tornado of discarded outfits to a simple and satisfying experience.  By enhancing your breasts to fit your body type, you will be thrilled with your current or new wardrobe.

2) You do not like the proportions of your breasts

While it is very common for many women to have one breast slightly larger than the other, some women have breasts that can differ as much as one, or multiple, full cup sizes. If uneven breasts have you feeling self-conscious, there is no reason to remain feeling anxious about getting undressed or donning a bikini. A breast augmentation can create even, well-proportioned breasts of the size you desire for restored confidence.

3) Weight loss or pregnancy

The gratifying experience of losing weight can come along with some unexpected consequences. Namely, the full breasts you enjoyed while you were larger will likely have lost weight as well, causing you to lose cup size or suddenly show a general saggy appearance. Likewise, pregnancy is a wonderful time in a woman’s life, yet it can leave your breasts in a similar situation— gaining fullness and later losing it due to weight loss and the strain of breastfeeding. If you want to bring back the fullness of larger breasts for good, a breast augmentation could be the answer for you. Dr. Aycock might also recommend a breast lift if you want to address issues like sagging or a deflated look after weight loss or pregnancy.

4) You are self-conscious about your breasts

Many women go through life feeling self-conscious about their breasts for a variety of reasons. Some women simply feel that their small breasts make them look less feminine than they wish. Others are worried about breasts that sag, nipples that seem to droop and point down, or they are simply unhappy about the overall shape or size of their breasts whether they are disproportionate or cone-shaped rather than a pillowy round shape. If you have been taking blows to your self-esteem and feeling less than beautiful due to the way your breasts look, a breast augmentation can help you to feel fantastic inside and out.

5) Long lasting results with a fast recovery

Breast augmentations have come a long way. New, advanced techniques for less downtime than ever before and less invasive methods that lead to minimal scarring are available. Different styles and types of implants from silicone gel to saline implants come in a variety of sizes, textures, and profiles so you can meet your aesthetic goals and receive the fantastic new breasts that best fit with your body type. It only takes a day or two after surgery to be up and walking, and (depending on the activity level) you could be back at your job as quickly as just a few days. With all of the advancements in breast augmentations, there is no reason not to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Aycock.

Mommy Makeover: Get Your Body Back!

Having a baby is often one of the most glorious and rewarding experiences in a woman’s life. However, any woman can tell you that it is far from a glamorous experience. You’ve brought a wonderful new life into the world to care for and nurture, so why not treat yourself to a Mommy Makeover to nurture your own mind, body, and soul? With the advancements in plastic surgery including less pain, very minimal scarring, and less downtime than ever before, there is no reason to suffer from low self-esteem over stretch marks or pesky fat deposits that persist despite exercise and healthy habits. Your heart has made space for your little one to thrive in your home, and every mommy deserves to feel as good about herself as she does about her beautiful child.

Dr. Aycock is happy to work with new mothers and provide them with specialized Mommy Makeovers that address the unwanted changes to your body after pregnancy. It is common for women to have a hard time shedding post-baby weight due to abdominal muscles becoming more lax, and to be left with stretch marks on the abdomen, arms, or thighs. Additionally, many women often find that breastfeeding has caused their breasts to sag or appear deflated. Luckily, the toll that pregnancy and childbirth take on your body can be addressed with a Mommy Makeover, customized specifically to your unique body and your aesthetic goals.

A Mommy Makeover can include a combination of a variety of different procedures, depending on the areas you want to rejuvenate. A breast augmentation, breast reduction, or breast lift, can help to fix sagging breasts, or breasts that have gained or lost an unwanted volume of fullness due to the changes undergone during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Liposuction, CoolSculpting, or a tummy tuck can fix stubborn fat deposits or the sagging skin left behind after sudden weight gain and loss. If you have similar issues in your limbs, an arm lift or thigh liftcan help you regain smooth and beautiful arms and legs.

The best part about treating yourself to a Mommy Makeover is that an experienced surgeon such as Dr. Aycock will help you to customize the procedure to your unique body and aesthetic goals. He understands that no two women’s bodies are alike and wants to listen to your individual needs to help design the right makeover for you. Having a baby is a beautiful thing, and if you feel that your appearance is less than beautiful because of the physical effects it had on your body, there’s no reason not to come in for a free initial consultation to discuss regaining your post-baby figure.

Reverse the Signs of Aging with a Facelift

While it may not be possible to turn back time, the modern facelift makes it possible to reverse signs of aging and appear years younger. All people age differently, and often, people end up looking older than they are, or older than they feel inside, due to factors such as genetics, sun exposure, and even stress. A common component of the aging process also includes the loss of elasticity in the skin. This leads to an older, more tired looking face as wrinkles, folds, and fat deposits on the face and neck begin to appear.

The great news is that the facelift has come a long way and gone through so many vast improvements in recent years, that now patients are often pleasantly surprised by how much shorter the recovery time is with the modern facelift. Gone are the days when a facelift meant weeks of rest bandaged up at home. Dr. Aycock  is considered by his peers and patients both as one of the best in the field of facial cosmetic surgery.  He has perfected the latest proven techniques so that you don’t have to put your busy life on hold for long at all.

Advancements in technique allow for an expert plastic surgeon like Dr. Aycock to remove excess fat, tighten underlying tissues, and strategically place small sutures in camouflaged locations. These stitches can usually be removed within one week, and any swelling or discomfort you may experience just after surgery often abates within just a few days. It’s no wonder that patients are deciding to tackle signs of premature aging at younger ages than ever before with all the benefits modern cosmetic surgery advancements have brought. Moreover, techniques from recent decades allow for more natural-looking results that last longer than in past decades.

Whether you are just starting to notice fat deposits appearing in your face, fine lines turning into deeper wrinkles or if you are looking to help smooth out substantial folds that have become more apparent over the years, a facelift may be just the answer you are looking for to shed years off your appearance and leave you with a glowing, rejuvenated face. Dr. Aycock is happy to offer interested patients a complimentary initial consultation. It only takes a short time out of your day to come in and find out for yourself if this increasingly popular procedure is the right choice for you to look and feel your very best.

Skin Rejuvenation Regimen Throughout the Year

Throughout winter, spring, summer, and fall, your skin has a variety of needs that change as you adjust to differences in temperature, humidity, sunlight, and even factors such as the amount of work and life stressors you go through. Your skin needs appropriate care during every part of the year, and understanding a proper skin rejuvenation regimen can help you to keep your skin looking healthy whether you’re lounging poolside or skiing the slopes. While every climate is different, and skin care factors often depend on the different changes that happen where you live, here are some general seasonal tips you might find helpful.

Winter

Winter often comes with a drop in humidity and the lack of moisture in the air can cause dry skin, increasing the importance of treatments such as Oxygen Facials. In addition, cold temperatures and the chance of dry winds can bring out latent skin issues such as eczema, which can be treated with a variety of gentle peels and soothing treatments. Skin Presence MD’s Hydrating B5 Serum is the perfect hydrating gel for dry winter skin. Combined with our Peptide Rich Moisture Cream, your skin will be protected from the harsh winter elements. Life factors such as a lack of exercise due to frigid temperatures and holiday eating habits can lead to excess weight gain, and losing that weight later and keeping it off for good can leave behind stretch marks. Laser treatments are available to take care of these and other unwanted marks on your skin. Moreover, winter is often a stressful time due to holiday travel, busy schedules, and the end-of-year workload at your job. You may want to consider a simple injectable filler to treat fine lines and wrinkles that stress and exposure to harsh elements can cause.

Spring

Spring brings back the excitement of enjoying outdoor activities again for many people. However, too much sun exposure can cause a wide range of issues from age spots to fine lines. Laser treatments can help to lessen the appearance of these skin issues and bring back a healthier complexion. It is always important to remember to wear sunscreen outdoors to keep that complexion as fresh as possible as well. Skin Presence MD’s Mineral SPF 30 is the perfect lightweight physical sunblock for easy, everyday use. Additionally, a Microdermabrasion Facial or Brightening Peel can help to treat sun damaged skin and improve the appearance of your skin as a whole. This year, be prepared early when the sunny days return so that you will be ready to show off that healthy glow.

Summer

The hot, sunny days of summer bring along quite a few complications for your skin. Sunscreen use is vital, as with all seasons, but if you are still showing signs of sun damage such as flat, discolored spots on the skin, there are a variety of treatments to choose from. A simple chemical peel can go deep into the layers of the skin that have been damaged and remove them, leaving behind fresh skin new that can heal quickly and bring back a youthful appearance. A topical antioxidant, such as Skin Presence MD C Serum, is crucial for your skin as it faces the free radical damage that comes from excess sun exposure. Also, the excessive sweating that comes along with summer can lead to breakouts as dirt and sweat mingle in your pores to create pimples and blackheads. A variety of facials can help with this, including a specialized deep pore acne facial that will help soothe over-active oil glands and provide the deep cleansing to extract dirt particles so that you will have a clearer complexion.

Fall

Fall brings with it a mix of skin care concerns, as the change from warm and sunny days to cold and dry days flip-flops back and forth for weeks on end. Your skin can benefit from chemical peels, such as a festive pumpkin peel, rich in restorative antioxidants, to help remove the summer sun’s damage to your complexion. Additionally, a facial such as the Intraceutical® Oxygen Facial can provide optimal rehydration, antioxidants, and vitamins as you protect your skin in advance from the harsh climate of winter to come. Fall is a perfect time to think about adding Skin Presence MD’s RX Hydroquinone 4% and Tretinoin .05%. When combined, these two prescription strength treatments both brighten stubborn dark spots, and remove cellular buildup, leaving you with soft, smooth, and bright skin!

Liposuction for Fat Loss: A Permanent Solution to a Pesky Problem

You’ve done all the right exercises. You’ve dedicated the time and energy to getting in cardio workouts and trying to sweat that weight off, doing crunches to strengthen your abs, trying Pilates to strengthen your muscles. You’ve been eating right, choosing healthy options, perhaps even turning to daily green smoothies or Paleo dieting. Yet you still find that you have fat deposits that simply won’t go away, no matter how many new fitness tips you test out or trainers you hire. If that describes you, then you are certainly not alone.

Many women and men find that it is extremely hard to lose persistent pockets of fat on certain areas of the body. Most commonly, these fat deposits are located on the belly, thighs, upper arms, and buttocks. It can even manifest in your face and around your neck. Some people go for years, or even their whole lives, working out harder and trying every diet in the book in hopes that they will finally conquer this fat and feel proud of their bodies. However, liposuction has come a long way in recent years and can provide a long-term solution to slim the contours of your body that just won’t yield on their own.

There are many reasons that you may not be able to lose weight in certain areas. As you age, it becomes more difficult to lose weight as the hormones in your body change. For some people, it simply comes down to genetic factors and your body type. Whatever the reason for persistent fat, there is no reason to keep suffering when liposuction has advanced to become one of the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country.

Dr. Aycock has years of experience working with patients who are at or around their normal body weight, and want to finally tackle the fat that remains and keeps them from feeling as beautiful as they should. Your self-esteem is the true measure of beauty, but you can’t feel good about yourself if you find yourself constantly unhappy with what you see in the mirror. Reclaim your confidence and find that radiant glow within yourself once again. The first step towards a new you couldn’t be easier: Dr. Aycock is happy to offer free initial consultations so that you can discuss your goals and assess whether liposuction for fat loss aligns with your goals and aesthetic dreams.

Dr. Aycock Interview with KRON August 2008

Dr. Robert Aycock was interviewed in August 2008 for KRON 4 News. During the interview, he discusses “Facelift Season”, the art behind plastic surgery and speaks live to callers. Read the interview here:

Interviewer: Welcome back to Body Beautiful and with us now is plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Aycock. We’ll be taking your calls for Dr. Aycock shortly and he will be answering any questions you have about face lifts. That’s our topic today. We’ll also be posting the phone numbers to the doctor’s office so be ready to jot those down. Alright, Dr. Aycock. You do a lot of things but today we’re concentrating mainly on the face.

Dr. Aycock: Yes, this is, we’re kind of getting into the face lift season. We’re kind of working our way out of liposuction and breast augmentation and the tummy tucks.

Interviewer: There’s a season for face lifts?

Dr. Aycock: Yes. We’re now getting into like what I call the face lift season so we’re kind of regrouping and we’re just going to see more face lifts over the next few months.

Interviewer: You know as a doctor these days you have a bag of tricks that really includes so much.

Dr. Aycock: Right. It’s not just all surgery. We have non-surgical things that we can do, little tricks and they’re not really so much tricks but they’re non-surgical things like the fillers that we do with Botox and lasers and we have our estheticians that do the facials with the chemical peels and microdermabrasion and . . .

Interviewer: Oxygen.

Dr. Aycock: . . . oxygen therapy, right.

Interviewer: Do you find people are coming in saying, “Doc, just buy me a little time, please?’

Dr. Aycock: Sure. That’s, I mean I’m a surgeon. I like to operate but not everybody is ready so we have all these things so that we don’t have to turn them away and say, “You know what? You’re not quite ready for a face lift so we really can’t help you. Now we have all of these options that we have brought into the practice like the fillers and Botox and those sorts of things.

Interviewer: When someone comes to you, I mean, did you say, “You know what? You are ready for a face lift. We’re seeing some jowls. We’re seeing that can’t really be corrected by the injectable.”

Dr. Aycock: Right. Well I may think that they’re ready. They may not think they’re ready so they have to be ready and that’s why when they come in I’ll just say, “What bothers you? What can I do to help you?” Then I give them options so that it’s really their decision to have a face lift or not. Not everybody’s ready and they have to kind of work their way into it.

Interviewer: By ready, I mean part of it is emotional, psychological.

Dr. Aycock: Emotionally, psychologically. They may not be ready. I have patients occasionally come in and say, “I want a face lift.” I go, “You know what? You’re not quite ready. I mean why don’t we do some other things before we do that?”

Interviewer: When someone is seeking a plastic surgeon, I mean obviously they’re going to go down the list and they’re going to say, “This person’s obviously board certified. They meet all the criteria,” but so much of it is word of mouth. It’s good reputation. It’s when you feel like you’re in good hands.

Dr. Aycock: Right. Most of my patients come from other patients now. I still get referrals from doctors and occasionally from other places but for the most part they come from my patients and I did a face lift on their grandmother or their aunt or their best friend’s mother or somebody. They know somebody that I’ve taken care of in the past and they kind of put a lot of credence in that. You still have to check all of the other things, make sure they’re board certified, how long they’ve been in practice, how much of their practice involves these procedures, do they have privileges in the hospitals to do these procedures or can they only do them in their office? There’s some things that you just need to check.

Interviewer: Now there are a lot of, I guess for lack of a better word, procedures, products out there that we see advertised, mini face lifts, quickie kind of deals. What’s the hottest thing going on right now or do you just go back to the traditional what works?

Dr. Aycock: Well if you look at the statistics there are about two million plastic surgery surgeries done that are cosmetic in a year whereas there are ten million non-invasive procedures done like Botox and  Restylane and Allorderm and those things that are really non-invasive so the quick things I think you would have to say are the non-invasive procedures. There’s been such an increase in those procedures that we do.

Interviewer: This is science but it’s also art. We’ve got to take a break. We’ve got some phone calls coming in and we’re going to talk about the art of looking good. For more information about Dr. Aycock you can call 925-727-3337 or on the web, go to aycockmd.com and for the first 20 callers who mention Body Beautiful you’ll be able to receive a complementary consultation. Also I understand, $50 off in injectable treatment and on top of that a complementary clinical facial by their esthetician. We’ll be taking your phone calls and continue our chat about plastic surgery when we come back on Body Beautiful.

Welcome back to Body Beautiful. We are talking right now with Dr. Robert Aycock. We’ll be taking your calls. If there’s any questions you have about plastic surgery here’s the phone number, 800-440-4884. We’ll also be posting the number for the doctor’s office so during and after the segment. Remember any advice we give you today, obviously you’re going to want a second opinion, talk with another physician as well although Dr. Aycock is one of the top.

Before we get to the phone calls and we have our phone calls coming in, let’s look at some before and after pictures. Dr. tells us about this one here.

Dr. Aycock: This is a lady that actually we’ve had her on the show before that had, said she felt like she was looking tired and wanted to be refreshed somewhat.

Interviewer: She was on the show and very happy.

Dr. Aycock: Very nice lady.

Interviewer: The next picture we’ve got?

Dr. Aycock: This is the same lady. This is just from the front and you can see that we’ve corrected the jowling that she had in her neck. She looked pretty good to begin with so I had a pretty good place to start but we just refreshed, she just looks more refreshed around her eyes and her brow.

Interviewer: Got a big smile on her face too. The last picture we have. I guess that was it.

Dr. Aycock: That’s nice.

Interviewer: Let’s go ahead and talk with Cynthia from Petaluma. Good morning, Cynthia. You have a question for Dr. Aycock?

Cynthia: Yes, I do. I was just calling about the three sores that I know about. Which one would last the longest as far as Juvederm, Restylane and the most current one is the, is it called Alloderm?

Interviewer: Cynthia you know your fillers.

Dr. Aycock: Restylane and Juvederm are one type of filler and Alloderm is actually human collagen that’s taken from a tissue bank and that is used more for, as an implant than the Restylane and Juvederm. Those are just injected. Alloderm we actually put it in as an implant and we use it more in, like the lips, to augment lips and and in the nasolabial fold.

Interviewer: But what about rejection of tissue. Is that an issue here?

Dr. Aycock: No. They wash all the cells out so all that’s left is the matrix so that it’s just the collagen that’s left so there’s no chance of rejecting or chance of catching anything from that tissue.

Interviewer: We’ve seen a lot of that in Hollywood. Is that…

Dr. Aycock: Well hyaluronic acid is probably the most common non-operative or minimally invasive procedure that we do.

Interviewer: That’s also in our own bodies as well. It’s just not.

Dr. Aycock: We have that already so that’s the Restylane and Juvederm and they’re both really good products.

Interviewer: Can we jump in, sorry Cynthia. We’re moving on to Josie from Clayton. Good morning, Josie. You have a question for the doctor?

Interviewer: Good morning.

Interviewer: What’s your question for the doc?

Josie: My question is about laser treatment. Can you tell me something about them and how many different kinds there are?

Dr. Aycock: There are dozens of different types of laser treatment. It depends on what it is you’re looking for. The most popular or the newest, I guess would be the fractional resurfacing lasers that we have now so that instead of using the CO2 laser or erbiem laser where we actually ablate the top layer of skin, this punches small columns through the skin to kind of trick the skin into remodeling so that you get the effect without all the down time. You still have two or three days of down time but not the two weeks with several months of redness that we had in the past.

Interviewer: This is pulling up what the collagen, the body’s own ability to kind of…

Dr. Aycock: It makes the dermis remodel so you build more collagen. It kind of turns the skin over so that it just helps with fine lines and tightens the skin a little bit.

Interviewer: Josie, my apologies. I said Jose because we actually do have men who are interested. In fact, do you see men for cosmetic procedures?

Dr. Aycock: Well, yes. I mean we treat quite a few men with these new lasers and it’s more for pre-cancerous lesions that they have on their face. They’ve had so much sun damage that I have a group of men now that have come in so many times for excision of basal cell carcinomas on their face that now we’re treating them with these lasers and it just kind of takes that away.

Interviewer: That’s good to know that it’s possible. This is a big topic. I guess we are out of time unfortunately, Dr. Thank you so much for joining us. We’ll have to have you back. For more information about Dr. Aycock call 925-937-8377 or on the web go to aycockmd.com. For the first 20 callers who mention Body Beautiful you’ll receive a complementary consultation as well as $50 off an injectable treatment and complementary clinical facial by their esthetician. See you next week.

Strongly Supports New Legislation to Ensure Women are Aware of All Breast Cancer Treatment and Insurance Options

Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Robert Aycock, MD Strongly Supports New Legislation to Ensure Women are Aware of All Breast Cancer Treatment and Insurance Options

Greenbrae, CA – September 24, 2013

Robert Aycock, MD, FACS Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in Marin County, CA, announced his strong support of the “Breast Cancer Patient Education Act”that requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to plan and implement an education campaign to inform women of the availability and coverage of breast reconstruction, prostheses and other options.

The Secretary may develop information for distribution or may identify information prepared by other organizations. The educational materials would inform women that breast reconstruction is possible at the time of breast cancer surgery, it may be delayed until after other treatments, or they may choose not to have reconstruction and be informed of the availability of prostheses or breast forms. Also, educational materials would inform breast cancer patients that federal law mandates coverage of breast reconstruction, even if such reconstruction is delayed until after other treatments.

“Every woman in the United States should be educated on the post-mastectomy options available to them to improve their quality of life after breast cancer. The “Breast Cancer Patient Education Act” assures that education and I support it wholeheartedly, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month” reported Robert Aycock, MD.

The American Cancer Society reported on September 17, 2013 “The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer during her life is about 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 36. Breast cancer death rates have been going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and better treatment. Right now there are more than 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.”

Dr. Aycock will hold free public educational events to discuss breast reconstruction options and breast health in general. A representative from Allergan, makers of silicon and saline breast implants, will be on hand with implant samples to help women see results they could expect. Attendees will learn about self breast examination from a non-profit organization called CYB, who promotes self examination as a way to aid in early cancer detection.

Marin county event is October 16, from 4:30-6:30 pm and is free to the public. Refreshments will be served and attendees will receive goody bags, courtesy of MyBody. Ten percent of skincare sales from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society. It will be held at Aycock Plastic & Reconstruction Surgery Center at 575 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, CA. Call (415) 460-7995 or visit www.AycockMD.com.

East Bay event is October 15, from 12:00-2:00 pm and is free to the public. Lunch will be served and attendees will receive goody bags, courtesy of MyBody. It will be held at Aycock Plastic & Reconstruction Surgery Center at 1855 San Miguel Drive, Suite 4 in Walnut Creek, CA. Call (925) 727-3337 or visit www.AycockMD.com.

Get Sexy Legs With a Thigh Lift

If your thighs lack definition or have become flabby, dimpled and saggy, a skilled cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Robert Aycock can help you return your legs to a youthful contour. A thigh lift, or thighplasty, can help improve the appearance of your upper thighs, greatly enhancing the look and fit of pants and giving you the confidence to wear shorts and show off your legs again.

Performed under general anesthesia, thigh lift surgery is an outpatient procedure that requires expert tissue manipulation techniques. Dr. Aycock creates your ideal contour by gently removing excess skin and fat and tightening the remaining skin, the same principle used for other lift procedures like face lift and buttock lift. Some patients may require liposuction to further refine the area, or benefit from buttock augmentation to create dramatic contour.

Men and women who are over age 18 and are in good health may be approved for a thigh lift after a thorough examination. Many patients complain about sagging skin in the thigh area as a result of genetics, even before the rest of their body shows signs of aging. This procedure is particularly helpful for patients who’ve experienced significant weight loss and would like to get rid of the hanging skin.

The final result of thighplasty is a tighter, firmer thigh appearance. Thigh lift patients may choose additional complementary surgeries like these to help them achieve their optimal proportions:

Talk to Dr. Robert Aycock about your options for rejuvenating the thighs and other areas affected by aging. To schedule your personal cosmetic surgery consultation, please contact Dr. Aycock online or call (925) 727-3337 .
