Summer of Reinvention: Why Now is the Best Time for a Total Body Makeover

May 8th, 2011

Although most of us don’t get the freedom that kids enjoy, summertime allows us a few months of that feeling of freedom and a carefree, lighthearted attitude. We may plan family vacations, weekend getaways, and new recreational activities. However you spend your summer, one thing is for sure — you want to look and feel your best.

At the office of Dr. Robert Aycock, we recognize the importance of reinvention, and we perform more total body makeovers around the end of spring or beginning of summer than any other time of year.

Designing Your New Figure

Body recontouring is the art of combining cosmetic body shaping procedures to help you improve your appearance. The total body makeover is the ultimate body recontouring method that aims to enhance several areas for a comprehensive result.

The most popular procedures today are those that address specific areas of the body that are limited by Mother Nature. If you are not happy with your breast size or shape, the breast enlargement, breast reduction, and breast lift work wonders. Liposuction and tummy tuck are the quintessential tools for women and men who simply cannot lose localized pounds due to genetics and body type.

There are also a variety of noninvasive treatments you can use to improve the appearance and texture of skin, such as fat transfer and laser hair removal.

If you are not ready to have surgery, we also offer the nonsurgical body shaping/cellulite reduction procedure called VelaShape.™

Facial Enhancement

Dr. Aycock has a variety of facial plastic surgery procedures that can beautifully complement a total body makeover. Choose from dramatic anti-aging procedures like the facelift, neck lift, and eyelid lift, or opt for the less invasive, nonsurgical treatments like BOTOX® and laser skin resurfacing. We can also get you started on a new skin care regimen, designed to promote healthy tone, texture, and vital new cell growth.

Put Your Best Face Forward With Age-Fighting Facelifts

September 7th, 2010

Facelifts are not just for older individuals who want to recapture their youth; facelifts are being performed on women and men in a variety of age groups to enhance self-confidence and restore vitality. At Bay Area’s Premier Aesthetic Surgery & Laser Center, Dr. Robert Aycock helps his patients get the improvements they desire with advanced facelift techniques to combat the physical signs of aging, sun damage, and stress.

Dr. Aycock and his cosmetic surgery team understand that the motivations can vary greatly among facelift patients. For some people, a facelift earlier in life is the perfect way to address premature aging and counter facial changes before they become too obvious. For others, this procedure is the perfect solution to correct deep brow furrows, sagging skin, and fat deposits for a dramatically younger look. We also have many patients who want to enhance their appearance to remain competitive and confident in work and social environments.

Here’s a breakdown of the differing age groups of men and women who are choosing the facelift procedure, along with some of the reasons why this is a popular choice for them.

Age 35-50

Women in this middle-aged group are beginning to notice some subtle signs of aging (such as loss of skin elasticity) and want to reverse wrinkling and loss of facial fullness. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, of the 94,247 facelifts that were performed in the United States in 2009, 21.1% of patients fell into this age group.

Age 51-64

Facelift recipients in this age group are attempting to minimize deep wrinkling and creases that reveal their true age. A whopping 58% of last year’s facelifts were performed on women and men in this age group.

Age 65

Facelifts performed on patients age 65 and over can dramatically reduce signs of old age and help senior citizens regain a sense of confidence in their physical appearance. At 19.3%, this age group falls third for most facelifts in 2009.

Facelift vs. Mid Facelift: Which One is Right For You?

February 3rd, 2010

Fighting premature signs of aging can be a tough job, especially when sun exposure and the environment conspire to reveal your true age via wrinkles, sagging skin, and a loss of elasticity. There are many skin care products out there promising a more youthful appearance. But facial cosmetic surgery is the only option guaranteed to deliver dramatic, long-term results.

Two of the most popular choices for facial rejuvenation are the facelift and the mid facelift, both of which are intended to reveal a more youthful, firm look through wrinkle reduction. If you desire, an eyelid lift, neck lift or a brow lift can be performed at the same time to enhance the effects of either procedure. Here are a few details about these options to help you decide which one might work for you.

Facelift

This surgery works by tightening the facial skin around the hairline to produce a smooth skin surface on the lower face and upper neck. Incisions are made in the hairline and along the ear, so there is little visible scarring. Skin is tightened and excess skin and fat are removed during the procedure. If you have sagging skin around the mouth, jawline, and cheeks, this may be your ideal choice.

Mid Facelift

A mid facelift, also referred to as a “cheeklift,” focuses on the central area of the face (under the eyes and around the cheeks) and is a less invasive procedure than the full facelift. After placing small incisions in the hairline, your surgeon will gently lift sagging skin around the cheeks, remove excess fat, and reduce smile lines by tightening the skin. This may be the right cosmetic option for you if you would like a more noticeable improvement than facial fillers offer, but a more subtle change than the full facelift provides.

Choosing Your Surgeon

Keep in mind that the plastic surgeon you choose to perform your facial rejuvenation procedure can mean a world of difference in the personal service you receive as well as your surgical outcome. When you choose a highly skilled, experienced doctor like the Bay Area’s Dr. Robert Aycock, you improve your chances of having a positive experience with great results.
