Choosing Your Ideal Breast Implant

November 20th, 2011

Body contouring offers many different ways you can reinvent your shape, including breast enlargement, a surgical method for enhancing breast size and creating a more voluptuous figure. If you are considering this procedure, Dr. Aycock would like to help you understand the differences between your implant options before you make a final decision.

The type of breast implants you choose will affect the final result in both appearance and feel. Viewing a variety of breast enlargement before and after photos can help you see how saline an silicone differ from an aesthetic standpoint. Rest assured that Dr. Aycock will thoroughly review your choices and explain the benefits in detail, while also recommending which implants will help you meet your appearance goals.

Saline or Silicone?

Saline and silicone are the two most prevalent types of implant materials available today. Both options come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and textures, and both are approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the body. Various profile options (low, moderate, moderate plus, and high profile) affect the implant’s projection and determine how high the implant protrudes from the ribcage. When you visit us for your breast augmentation consultation, we’ll show you the various implants and further explain the advantages of each.

Your New Implants

Your ideal implants should be chosen based on several factors, including the volume of your natural breast tissue, your desired final appearance, your skin elasticity, and your frame size. Dr. Aycock will show you results of breast augmentation procedures using various volumes and help you get an idea for the affects of the different styles and textures. Special “sizer” bras can also be worn to help you envision the various implants’ final appearance.

Physician Guidance

As you approach your decision, Dr. Aycock can be a strong resource. During his many years of performing breast augmentation, he’s helped countless Bay Area women achieve the breast improvements they’ve always dreamed of, and he will direct you to the implant options that complement your figure.

Dr. Aycock dedicates a large percentage of his time to the art of breast surgery: He currently serves as Medical Director of the Breast Center of Northern California and was given the honor of NOVO-2008 “Distinguished member of the National Council of Leaders in Breast Aesthetics.”

Breast Augmentation: What You Should Know

January 4th, 2009

If you are considering enhancing your shape with the plastic surgery procedure breast augmentation, there are a few things you should know to help you decide if this is the right option for you.

About Breast Augmentation

First of all, it is good to understand what breast augmentation can and cannot do for you.  Breast surgery can improve contour, restore breast volume and balance asymmetrical breasts. And while this popular procedure will increase your breast size and enhance  breast appearance, it is not designed to combat extreme sagging due to age or breast feeding. The breast lift procedure is often done in combination with or instead of breast augmentation to help lift and reposition breasts.

Your First Breast Enlargement Visit

Not everyone is a candidate for breast enlargement. You will need to schedule an initial consultation with a skilled surgeon for a thorough evaluation. Once you are approved for augmentation, your doctor will go over all of the risks and benefits of surgery and let you know exactly what to expect. As with any surgical procedure, there are risks. You can minimize these risks by choosing a highly trained plastic surgeon and following the specific pre- and post-op instructions.

Your breast augmentation surgeon can help you choose from saline or silicone breast implants, and decide on the perfect cup size. You will have the opportunity to view breast enlargement before and after photos, as well, to see what kinds of results are possible.  Together, you will choose the ideal breast incision location, either in the breast crease, the areola, or the armpit. During this time, you will go over the affordable financing options that are available.

After Breast Enlargement

After the one-to-two hour procedure, a bandage will be applied to help with healing. Patients often return to work within a couple of days, although healing times will vary based on your individual situation. After the recovery period is complete, you will enjoy your new, shapelier figure and the enhanced self-confidence that comes with looking your best!
