The Artistry Involved in a Rhinoplasty

March 14th, 2011

Rhinoplasty is a popular procedure for anyone looking to change the appearance of their nose. Many different types of alterations can be performed, including size reduction, shape change, nostril size or shape adjustments, and reshaping to improve airflow. Whether you were born with a nose you don’t like, you suffered a nose injury, or you have a nasal birth defect, Dr. Robert Aycock can help you get the nose you want with his skillful and artistic hands.

Your Rhinoplasty Artist

Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Aycock takes great pride in creating beautiful reshaping results that complement each patient’s unique natural beauty. Dr. Aycock is a very talented rhinoplasty surgeon renown for his ability to combine the plastic surgery skill he possesses with a great deal of artistic license. Dr. Aycock is wholeheartedly dedicated to achieving results that his patients desire, and he accomplishes this with the application of extreme mindfulness and carefully honed skill during surgery. He has also designed his pre- and post-operative care protocol for the utmost safety.

Elements of a Successful Nose Surgery

Here are some of the ways skill and artistry combine for a successful rhinoplasty.

  • Most often, incisions are inconspicuously placed on the inside nostril area. If external incisions are required, they are placed in the creases where the nose and cheek meet.
  • Excess cartilage is gently removed and the skin must be redraped carefully for a normal final appearance.
  • Size reductions must be calculated precisely to achieve a result that looks natural and attractive.
  • In some cases, Dr. Aycock will add tissue to fill in skin deficits. Tissue addition requires a very delicate hand as well as a good eye for what looks best.
  • Any protruding or uneven bone tissue must be carefully reduced to create a smooth final result.
  • Dr. Aycock must perform all alterations so that the blood flow to the nose tissue is healthy.
  • All alterations must be performed in a manner that allows for uninhibited breathing.
  • Dr. Aycock must consider the steps to improve the form and function of each segment of the nose, as well as the final overall appearance.
  • Dr. Aycock must manage the healing process in a way that optimizes final appearance and encourages healthy recovery. Splints and stitches should be applied and removed very strategically.

It is Dr. Aycock’s ability to combine all these elements in such a deliberate way that produces an ideal final appearance that doesn’t just look symmetrical, but looks great with the patient’s unique features. SkinTyte™ For Tighter, Younger-Looking Skin

June 6th, 2010

You may have read about the incredible Sciton Laser, an innovative tool used to refine facial imperfections and enhance complexion, in a previous blog. Now, we would like to highlight the facial treatment called SkinTyte™ Photofacial Therapy, a nonsurgical skin enhancement that uses the light energy of the Sciton Laser to improve skin laxity and refresh skin appearance.

What is SkinTyte?

SkinTyte is a non-invasive treatment that is safe to use on a wide variety of skin types. Pulsed infrared light is combined with advanced cooling technology to target damaged tissue below the skin’s surface. The underlying collagen is gently stimulated into contraction, resulting in a tightened effect. While the dermal collagen layers are warmed, outer layers are simultaneously cooled, effectively minimizing discomfort and protecting surrounding skin. Anesthesia is rarely needed; however, a mild topical cream may be used to ensure comfort.

When is SkinTyte Recommended?

SkinTyte works well for patients with sun damaged skin or premature signs of aging, and it is also a great option for minimizing facial redness. If you have acne scars, Rosacea, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines, this might be the perfect treatment for you. Generally, patients enjoy an overall younger appearance after their sessions, though it may take three to six months to realize the full results. SkinTyte is most often used on the face, but can also be applied to the neck, chest, abdomen, arms, and hands. For best results, most individuals will require two to five sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart.

Your cosmetic surgeon may recommend SkinTyte as a freestanding treatment, before or after a face or neck lift surgery, after chemical peels or BOTOX®, or in combination with microdermabrasion and other facial rejuvenation sessions.

How Can I Learn More?

Renewing your skin’s appearance is simple and affordable with the incredible SkinTyte treatment. If you would like to learn more and find out if you are a candidate for this and other noninvasive skin care options, please contact Dr. Robert Aycock today or find him on Facebook under Bay Area’s Premier Aesthetic Surgery and Laser Center. As an International Trainer for Doctors & Surgeons for Advanced Training on the use of the Sciton Laser, Dr. Aycock is a wonderful choice for your SkinTyte treatment.

Fat Transfer for Natural Volume

October 20th, 2009

Want a natural, nonsurgical solution for areas of the body that have lost that youthful, full appearance? Fat transfer (or autologous fat transplantation) is a wonderful way to combat the loss of volume that occurs with the aging process.

What is involved with a fat transfer?

Fat transfer, as the name implies, involves removing cells from an area of the body with ample fat (such as the stomach or thighs) for implantation in an area that has lost volume. At the start of the fat transfer procedure, your plastic surgeon will numb both treatment areas. Using a thin needle, the doctor carefully removes a specific amount of fat from the donor site. Then, after the fat cells are purified, the doctor gently implants them and re-contours the area for a flawless, natural appearance. The transfer process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours, depending on the patient’s needs.

What can a fat transfer correct?

The fat transfer procedure can have a very positive effect on areas of the face and body that are showing signs of aging. Popular treatment sites include the cheeks and buttocks. Also, fat transfer may be used to create balance in body areas that are asymmetrical or deformed. Results can last for many years and may even prove permanent for some.

What is the recovery like?

Healing after fat transfer is quick, and results can be seen almost immediately. Every patient’s experience is unique, depending on factors like the treatment area chosen and how much fat is being transferred. In general, fat transfer recipients can expect to be back to work in one to three days (for small fat grafts) and resume light exercise at the one-week mark. Touch-ups are often recommended to achieve ideal, even contours.

Fat transfer is a great procedure to do in combination with other anti-aging options, such as the Brow Lift, Eyelid Lift, Facelift, Botox®, Restylane®, Hydrelle™, or Sculptra™.

If you are searching for a way to restore lost volume and fight the signs of aging, learn more about the safe and effective fat transfer procedure. Please contact Dr. Aycock today to set up your consultation and get information on patient financing.
