a personalized approach

In the image-conscious San Francisco Bay Area, where surgical enhancement is a relatively popular pursuit, Dr. Robert G. Aycock seeks to distinguish himself by offering leading-edge treatments coupled with highly personalized care. "No two procedures are ever performed exactly the same," he explains. "I treat each patient as an individual, modifying my techniques to enhance natural beauty."

Treating the whole patient, not just the problem, the board-certified surgeon consistently goes the extra mile to provide patient-specific care. During consultations, Dr. Aycock is both compassionate and acutely attentive. "Getting to know each patient helps me better address their concerns," he explains. "I want to understand their needs and help them achieve their goals." For over two decades, this self-professed perfectionist has developed a loyal following. Dr. Aycock spends much of his time performing facelifts, tummy tucks and liposuction. But, he's quick to point out that nips and tucks are not always necessary. "In some cases, surgery may not be the best course of action," he explains. "For patients who are not quite ready for surgery, we can achieve their goals using lasers, fillers and other noninvasive protocols."

With patient safety always of paramount importance, Dr. Aycock performs most procedures at his state-licensed and Medicare certified surgical center, attended by a handpicked team of anesthesiologists. Overnight accommodations are offered to those who require extra TLC . His practice encompasses two state-ofthe- art offices, both of which contain all-inclusive medi-spas, featuring a variety of lasers and a host of aesthetician services for nonsurgical rejuvenation.

About Face

When performing facial rejuvenation surgery, to achieve natural-looking results, Dr. Aycock asserts that it's imperative to use COMBINATION TREATMENTS that address multiple signs of aging," he says, noting that different regions of the face present unique challenges. "Some patients need more work around the eyes, some require treatment in the mid-face, while others will really benefit from a browlift," he explains. "Our goal is to give each patient what they need to look their best." Dr. Aycock routinely draws from a TOOLBOX OF ANTI-AGING PROCEDURES to turn back time. For example, fat transfer can help PLUMP SUNKEN FEATURES, while lasers can remove unwanted hair, erase age spots and TONE SLACK SKIN. "Sometimes a patient might only need fillers to obtain his or her desired look," says Dr. Aycock. "In other cases, the treatment may be more involved. Patients reap the most advantages when they receive a customized treatment plan that takes balance, harmony and proportion into account."

Your Skin at 20, 30, 40, 50 plus

It's never too late to start pampering your skin, says San Francisco Bay Area plastic surgeon Robert Aycock. At this stage, topical treatments - combined with a healthy lifestyle - still have plenty of wrinkle-fighting promise. However, they can't replace doctor's office procedures when it comes to eliminating serious sun damage and sagging.

"There's a big difference between skin at 45 and 55," Dr. Aycock says. "In your 50's, you lose fat in the face and things start to slide downward, which is why some women opt for a facelift." During menopause, skin continues to thin and becomes more sensitive to climate changes. You're likely to experience more brown spots and facial hair (although eyebrows become sparse - go figure). Bags or hollows around the eyes are more pronounced.

Keep your face from matching your leather handbag by reaching for a creamy cleanser and richer moisturizer, and using exfoliants more often to slough off dead skin (think ferulic acid, glycolic acid, and retinols). Your beauty mantra? Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.

Living in the same county as his surgical center, which is fully equipped with overnight recovery accommodations, enables Dr. Aycock to take comfort in knowing he is easily accessible should his patients need him. "All surgical patients are educated in-depth prior to procedures and receive follow-up calls after surgery," he says of his efforts to make his patients' experience as pleasant and smooth as possible. "I spend a great deal of time getting a true sense of each patient, as well as his or her objectives. It is only then, when neither one of us has any more questions, that I will proceed with treatment."

We place a very high emphasis on efficiency and uncompromised patient safety.

CUSTOMIZED FACIAL REJUVENATION

Believing that a personalized treatment plan will help yield what he describes as "YOUTHFUL RESULTS THATWORK TO COMPLEMENT YOUR NATURAL FEATURES," Dr. Aycock and his tenured staff spend ample time understanding patients' goals and obtaining a thorough appreciation for the type of results they hope to achieve. "Prior to seeing me, patients will receive a detailed questionnaire in the mail to ensure our staff is aware of any special needs or accommodations they may require," says Dr. Aycock. "To further make my consults more efficient, patients first meet with my patient care coordinator, who will enlighten me as to the concerns they would like to discuss. This enables me to make MORE PRECISE RECOMMENDATIONS in relation to their specific needs." To help patients look younger, Dr. Aycock offers a wide variety of surgical and nonsurgical services. Such treatments include FACELIFTS, EYELID LIFTS, BROWLIFTS, FACIAL IMPLANTS AND INJECTABLES. "Sometimes a patient will benefit most from combination therapies; other times a patient might only need fillers to obtain his or her desired look. I think patients reap the most advantages when they receive a customized treatment plan that takes balance, harmony and proportion into account. There are multiple treatments and techniques to use that can be specifically tailored to each patient and result in limited incisions, as well as shorter procedures."

Get Ready to Party

Settle in for a cleansing facial. Beauty connoisseurs Madonna and Eva Longoria are hooked on oxygen therapy facials. No need to make the jaunt to Hollywood - Julie Levesque gives the treatment inside the Walnut Creek office of Plastic Surgeon Robert Aycock. After a quick cleanse, she spends thirty minutes waving a metal, air brush-like wand directly on top of the face. Hyperbaric oxygen infuses a plumping serum (made up of hyaluronic acid, green tea, and Vitamins A, C, and E) into the skin. Like dipping your face into the fountain of youth, it diminishes expression lines, and leaves your skin looking noticeably quenched. Even the lips get a slight boost in size. If you want to measure the results, ask Levesque to infuse one side of your face at a time and compare the "before" with the dewy, supple "after."
