Sciton® MicroLaser Peel™ in San Francisco, CA
Embarrassed by the look of wrinkles, scars, or pigmentation issues not corrected by microdermabrasion? Get to the root of the problem with a MicroLaser Peel™, performed by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Aycock, right here in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
What Is a MicroLaser Peel™?
A MicroLaser Peel™ is a targeted laser treatment therapy that removes the outermost layers of the skin. Unlike a related procedure, microdermabrasion, a MicroLaser Peel™ performs a deeper removal of the skin, going beyond the surface to treat core problems. It is an ideal step between microdermabrasion and deeper chemical peels.
Benefits of a MicroLaser Peel™*
A MicroLaser Peel™ offers a number of benefits including the following:
- Revealing softer, smoother, and younger-looking skin.
- An immediate difference in skin texture and tightness.
How Is a MicroLaser Peel™ Performed?
As its name implies, a MicroLaser Peel™ can target deeper more resilient areas of the skin with laser precision as opposed to more surface treatments such as microdermabrasion. The laser energy is delivered through a computer-controlled scanner that precisely positions the beam over the treatment area. You may hear snapping or popping sounds as the laser beam gently removes the outer layer of skin cells. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected: wrinkles, scars, keratoses, or pigmentation problems.
How is the MicroLaser Peel™ different from Microdermabrasion?*
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer (stratum corneum, 10-15 microns) of the skin. Patients may become dissatisfied when the perceived results do not equal expense and the number of procedures required.
The MicroLaser Peel™ is a minimal to full epidermal peel (20 to 50 microns). Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and deeper peels.
Preparing for a MicroLaser Peel™
Your skin may feel red and sore after the treatment (like a bad sunburn), so you may wish to take a day or two off work to allow your skin proper time to heal and for the redness to dissipate. A MicroLaser Peel™ is often called a “weekend peel” because of its two-day recovery time.
MicroLaser Peel™ Recovery*
A local anesthetic will be applied 30-45 minutes before the procedure is about to begin. Afterward, you will be given a topical moisturizing cream which will provide a barrier while the skin heals. It is always a good idea to wear sunscreen to protect the healing skin against UV damage.
How Much Does a MicroLaser Peel™ Cost?
The cost of a MicroLaser Peel™ in San Francisco varies depending on the area being treated. Dr. Aycock provides convenient financing options, including CareCredit®; to help cover the cost of your treatment, and you may be approved in as little as an hour. Visa®, MasterCard®, and Discover® are also accepted, and you’ll enjoy a FREE CONSULTATION on your first visit to our office.
Is a MicroLaser Peel™ Right for Me?*
A MicroLaser Peel™ may be the ideal procedure for you if you meet any of the following conditions:
- You have hyperpigmentation of the skin, acne scarring, or fine lines and wrinkles that you’d like to reduce.
- You want a deeper treatment than provided by microdermabrasion.
