Are you interested in undergoing a Mommy Makeover surgery?

If that’s the case, you’re probably very excited about the outcome of your surgery. After all, you know that a Mommy Makeover procedure can help you get your pre-pregnancy body back. From repairing and flattening your stomach to lifting and restoring volume to your breasts, the Mommy Makeover surgery will have you looking and feeling like your old self again.

But while you’re focused on what to expect after the surgery, you might not be asking yourself this critical question: “How should I prep for my Mommy Makeover Surgery?”

Preparing for Your Mommy Makeover

Don’t worry, you won’t have to prepare for your Mommy Makeover procedure alone. In fact, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Aycock will ensure that you fully understand and feel comfortable with what you need to do to prep for the day of your surgery.

Prepare-for-surgery Walnut Creek

In general, you should anticipate taking the following steps to prepare for your Mommy Makeover surgery:

  1. Quit smoking and using recreational drugs; ideally, you should do this around the six-week mark before your procedure. Keep in mind that if you’re still smoking less than two weeks before surgery, Dr. Aycock won’t be able to perform the procedure.
  2. Stop taking blood-thinning medications, as this can interfere with the results of your surgery. Dr. Aycock will work with you to identify these medications, as well as offer an alternative schedule in case your blood thinners are critical to your health.
  3. Prepare for your recovery period! Dr. Aycock recommends having about a week’s worth of meals waiting for you in the fridge. You should also invest in a recliner for resting, as you may not be able to lay horizontally for about a week after the surgery. Arrange for someone at home to help take care of you, especially within the first 48 hours after your procedure.
