5 Steps to Prepare for Breast Augmentation Surgery

1. Quit smoking ASAP.

Whether you smoke traditional cigarettes, vape, or enjoy recreational marijuana, we recommend stopping smoking for at least six weeks before your surgery. All nicotine products (including gum and patches) can create health problems that may put you at risk while you’re on the operating table. And while marijuana is considered safer than nicotine, there’s still not enough medical information about it, so it’s best to go cold turkey altogether.

2. Double-check your meds.

Aspirin, ibuprofen, blood-thinning medications, and many vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements could increase your risk for bleeding during the operation.  If any of these medications are part of your daily or occasional routine, you should ask your plastic surgeon when you should stop before your breast augmentation surgery.

3. Arrange for transportation.

It will be important for you to arrange transportation to and from the surgery center prior to your procedure.  You will NOT be able to drive yourself home!

4. Ask people to check in on you.

You must have a responsible adult caring for you when you arrive home from surgery, that night and the next day.  If you live alone or with roommates, it’s a good idea to have a schedule of people who can check in on you for the first few days after surgery. Make sure they’re people you trust, as you’ll be particularly vulnerable and need lots of help moving around.

5. A recliner of lots of pillows!.

Finally, if you have a good recliner, you’re in luck, as it puts you in the exact position you’ll need to sleep and rest in for 10-14 days after surgery.  Several pillows will also do the same.

They made everything about the visit feel comfortable. From the minute I walked in the door the lady at the front desk greeted me with nothing but kindness . Linda then took me back and although I was nervous to remove my clothes she made the whole situation comfortable and as unawkward as possible . Dr. Aycock is very professional and answered every question I had with honestly and patients . Although I am young I appreciated that they didn’t speak down to me as if I was not able to afford something as expensive as a breast augmentation. All the staff treated me as if I was anyone else . I look forward to getting my procedure done with dr. Aycock and I most definitely will be recommending him if any of my friends or family are in need of a plastic surgeon! 10/10 for sure !
