What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, also referred to as abdominoplasty, involves removing excess fat and surrounding skin from the belly area. It is done to firm sagging skin and improve muscle tone whenever diet and exercise have been relatively ineffective. The result is a smoother and flatter abdomen that also has a more muscular appearance.
How is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
The surgeon will use a marker to mark the area where excess tissue will be removed. After this, light sedation will be administered either in the form of an intravenous tube or orally. Once the anesthesia has kicked in, patients are then taken to the operating room, and incisions will be made. After carefully removing the excess fat and skin, the surgeon will use sutures to close the wound and then the patient will be taken to the recovery room.
