Is a Chin Implant Right for Me?*

A chin implant may be the ideal procedure for you if you meet any of the following conditions:

  • You are embarrassed or self-conscious about your chin and want to improve the physique of your face.
  • You are concerned that a small chin is drawing unusual attention to other areas of the face, including the brow and nose.

Benefits of a Chin Implant*

Discouraged by the look of your chin? A chin implant can give you the fuller, more proportionate look you’ve always wanted! In addition, it can do the following:

  • Help improve your self-esteem and self-confidence.
  • Round out the contours of your face to make it more visually appealing.

What to Expect During Your Consultation

Dr. Aycock will take the time to go over your complete medical history to ensure there are no conflicts or issues that could arise during or after your plastic surgery procedure. He will discuss your goals and anticipated outcome of your surgery, as well as answer any questions you may have. Depending on the type of procedure you plan to have done, he may examine the area being treated. Every consultation is done with the utmost professional courtesy and thorough explanation of each step to ensure that you are informed and comfortable with the process. Once you feel fully assured and satisfied with the answers, you can move forward with scheduling your surgery.

What Is a Chin Implant?

A chin implant is a custom-made implant inserted in the chin area to help give the chin a better proportion in connection with the rest of the face. A small chin may make your nose look bigger or may draw unwanted attention to other areas of the face. With a chin implant (also known as a chin lift), your face will look more contoured and proportionate alongside the rest of your natural features.

How Is a Chin Implant Performed?

Chin enhancement surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis with either general or local anesthesia. Dr. Aycock will make an incision under the chin or inside the lower lip, through which a pre-formed chin implant is placed.

Implants may be made of synthetic material, such as silicone or constructed of harvested donor tissues or the patient’s own bone from elsewhere in the body.

Chin surgery is sometimes performed in conjunction with a facelift or other cosmetic or reconstructive procedure. Often, Dr. Aycock will recommend chin surgery along with rhinoplasty (nose job) in order to gain a balanced appearance in a patient’s features.

Preparing for a Chin Implant

You may be asked to have lab testing or a medical evaluation done to rule out any external issues that may interfere with your surgery. You may also be asked to start, discontinue, or adjust your current medication schedule. You’ll recover more quickly if you stop smoking, and you should avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, or any herbal supplements as these can increase bleeding.

Chin Implant Recovery*

You will have bandages placed over your chin area and although you will see the results right away, the true beauty of your chin implant may be masked by some swelling or bruising, which will gradually diminish over time.

How Much Does a Chin Implant Cost?

The cost of a chin implant in San Francisco varies depending on the type of implant and the extent of surgery needed. Dr. Aycock provides convenient financing options, including CareCredit® and Prosper Healthcare Lending®; to help cover the cost of your surgery, and you may be approved in as little as an hour.
