What Is Dysport®?
If your worry lines have you worried that you’re starting to look older, Dysport® injections can help you maintain a healthy, natural-looking appearance. Dysport® is an injectable treatment that is used to help soften the appearance of wrinkles ranging from mild to severe. It is injected directly into the wrinkle or treatment area, and muscles will start to relax between 24 and 72 hours after injection.
Benefits of Dysport®
Like Botox®, Dysport® will help erase years off your face, particularly creases in the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines, and severe wrinkles. Patients who use Dysport® tell us that they feel the following benefits:
- Softer, smoother, more relaxed skin that looks younger.
- Resolving of fine lines and a diminished appearance of deeper, more severe wrinkles.
- Greater self-confidence and the ability to let their natural personality shine through.
Preparing for Dysport®
You may be asked to have lab testing or a medical evaluation done to rule out any external issues that may interfere with your treatment. You may also be asked to start, discontinue, or adjust your current medication schedule. You’ll recover more quickly if you stop smoking, and you should avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, or any herbal supplements as these can increase bleeding.
How Is Dysport® Administered?
An alternative to Botox®, Dysport® uses Clostridium botulinum toxin to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause moderate-to-severe wrinkles. The product is FDA approved and is a safe, effective way to take years off your face.
Dysport® is injected directly into facial wrinkles and lines. The procedure is quick – usually between 10 and 20 minutes– and Dr. Aycock will use a topical pain reliever to make the procedure more comfortable. Patients experience no downtime. Injections can be safely repeated every 90 days.
Dr. Aycock is a trainer for Botox® Cosmetic and dermal filler injections.
Occasionally, you may feel redness or tenderness at the injection site. Ice or a local anesthetic may be applied to ease this discomfort. There is little downtime associated with Dysport® injections, and you can return to your normal activities right away.
