What Is Juvederm®?
Juvederm®, like Restylane®, is a synthetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid. It helps hydrate and plump up skin in a way that fills in wrinkles, creases, and fine lines around the mouth and cheeks. Dr. Aycock uses both Juvederm® and Restylane® interchangeably to achieve these effects.
Benefits of Juvederm®
Juvederm® offers numerous benefits to patients who want to diminish the look of aging and restore youthful, vibrant skin. Patients who have Juvederm® or Restylane® injections tell us that they feel the following benefits:
- A renewed sense of confidence and natural beauty.
- Improved skin tone and softness.
- More youthful, hydrated skin.
- Lasts for up to one year.
- No downtime.
- Only dermal filler that’s safe and effective for people of color.
Preparing for a Juvederm® Injection
You may be asked to have lab testing or a medical evaluation done to rule out any external issues that may interfere with your treatment. You may also be asked to start, discontinue, or adjust your current medication schedule. You’ll recover more quickly if you stop smoking, and you should avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, or any herbal supplements as these can increase bleeding.
How Is Juvederm® Administered?
The entire process takes just a few minutes, with results visible immediately. You may experience some tenderness at the injection site. Ice or a local anesthetic can be applied to help alleviate this discomfort.
Dr. Aycock is a trainer for Botox® Cosmetic and dermal filler injections.
Downtime is minimal and you may return to normal activities in a very short time period. Ice or a local anesthetic may be applied to the injection site. Treatment results are immediate, and Juvederm® lasts an average of one year. It is also safe to use on people of color as there is no increase in the risk of hypertrophic scarring or hyperpigmentation.
