How is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
A tummy tuck is performed under a general anesthetic. Once you have been anesthetized, one of three incisions will be made. A standard tuck involves an incision above your pubic bone, a mini tuck involves a smaller cut in the same area, and an extended tuck moves around to the back. The aim of the procedure is to tighten the area; this is achieved by first removing excess skin, and then taking away small pockets of fat. The area is then tightened and sutured. The recovery period is around four to six weeks, and aftercare will be provided.
