If you have sagging skin around your stomach, you may be a good candidate for a tummy tuck procedure. This surgery – also known as an abdominoplasty – is a great option for people who have skin that didn’t “snap back” after major weight loss, pregnancy, or even as a result of getting older.

Interested in the surgery, but not sure how much you should budget? Let’s take a look at how much a tummy tuck costs.

The Average Cost of a Tummy Tuck

The average cost of a tummy tuck procedure is $6,253, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Added fees for the operating room and anesthesiologist may bring the total closer to $10,000. While your tummy tuck cost may be different, it’s a good starting place for understanding how much you should begin to budget.

3 Factors That Can Affect Your Tummy Tuck Cost

1. Your location.

If you live in a major metro area, there’s a good chance you’re going to pay more for your surgery than if you live in a rural area. That’s because your plastic surgeon may have to charge more due to pricey rents, utilities, and more operational costs.

2. Your plastic surgeon’s experience levels.

The more experienced and esteemed the plastic surgeon, the more likely it is that you’re paying for that experience. That’s a good thing, as when it comes to tummy tuck surgery, you don’t want the budget to be a leading factor in your decision-making process.

3. Additional surgical costs.

It’s worth noting that the final price of your tummy tuck procedure can be influenced by additional costs stemming from the surgical center, prescription medications, and even general anesthesia fees. Make sure you have a full understanding of what’s included in any tummy tuck surgery fee.
