What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is an injectable treatment that is primarily used to treat volume loss. It’s an FDA-approved treatment, meaning you can rest easy knowing that it has been tried and tested and given the all-clear for use. In essence, Sculptra® is designed to help replace lost collagen from your face. This is the most abundant protein in your body and is responsible for supporting cell and tissue growth.
The injectable solution is made up of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a prime collagen stimulator. When this enters your bloodstream it encourages more collagen proteins to develop, bringing more structure to the cells in that area.
What does Sculptra® Treat?
Primarily, it targets areas of the face that have suffered from fat loss. This can include the following:
- Sunken cheeks
- Hollow eyes
- Skin indentations around the face
Natural fat loss from your face is a normal part of life and is seen as a telltale sign of aging. Your skin loses its volume and elasticity as a result of a lack of collagen within the cells. To reiterate, this is normal and everyone will suffer from a lack of collagen production as they get older. With Sculptra®, you can reverse these effects by adding more volume to sunken or deflated areas of your face. It will plump things up, restoring a more youthful look.
How Long Does Sculptra® Last?
The results of Sculptra® can vary from candidate to candidate. One key thing to note is that you will see a gradual improvement after the treatment. The full effects of Sculptra® won’t be seen immediately as your body needs to produce more collagen. In the following weeks/months, you will notice your face starts to look fuller, the skin is tighter, and you appear younger.
For the majority of candidates, Sculptra® can last for around 25 months. This is after the initial treatment period of three injections over three/four months. Effectively, you get long-lasting results that don’t require constant maintenance.
Am I a Candidate for Sculptra®?
