Tummy Tuck Overview

A tummy tuck – also referred to as abdominoplasty – is a safe surgical procedure that targets the areas of excess fat and skin around the abdomen. By sculpting the area, Dr. Robert Aycock is able to design your desired body contour.

During a tummy tuck, Dr. Aycock will create an incision from hip to hip, generally under the navel. After separating the abdomen skin from the muscle and fascia, Dr. Aycock will repair and tighten the underlying muscles and remove any fat and skin in excess.

Each person is unique and looking to obtain different results. Dr. Robert Aycock will use a combination of abdominoplasty, liposuction, and body contouring procedures to help you achieve the desired results.

What Does a Tummy Tuck Address?

Tummy tuck procedures can be used to reshape the belly, abdomen, and hips area when the abdominal muscles have been overstretched and the skin has become lax. Common instances that might call for a tummy tuck include:

  • Pregnancy and childbirth
  • A drastic and rapid loss of weight
  • Aging

In these instances, a tummy tuck can tighten skin and muscles, help remove fat deposits, and restore a person’s youthful body shape.

Benefits of a Tummy Tuck

From helping you regain self-confidence to enhancing your body image and improving health, there are endless benefits to a tummy tuck. Here are three of the most important ones.

Repair Torn Muscles

Whether it is because of aging, drastic weight loss, or pregnancy, the abdominal muscles can become affected by many factors during our life. A tummy tuck does not only help reduce the amount of visible sagging skin, but it can also repair torn or overstretched muscles

In most cases, muscle repair and tightening represent the most important part of the procedure. In turn, tightening muscles can help you regain better spine health, posture, and range of movement – benefitting your general health!

Remove Excess Skin

Some events in life can cause our skin to become overstretched, which, in turn, damages the collagen and elastin in it. As a result, your skin can lose elasticity and its ability to retract.

This excess of skin is usually noticeable in people who have lost a lot of weight or in women after pregnancy. A tummy tuck can be an easy, long-lasting alternative to reduce the signs of overstretched skin

Long-Lasting Results

After a recovery time of four to six weeks, you will be able to enjoy the results of a tummy tuck straight away. And, these results are permanent!

You can now enjoy tighter skin, better body contour, and stronger abdominal muscles for years to come. Of course, a nutritious diet and regular exercise are essential to maintain the results for years to come.

Am I a Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

Perfect candidates for a tummy tuck are individuals who are healthy, not planning to have other kids, and close to their ideal weight. Dr. Robert Aycock and his team will also ask you to undergo medical evaluations to ensure that you are compatible with the procedure.

I had my TT on April 30th 2012. My Doctor was very awesome and I’m very satisfied with my results. Never felt any real pain. Sleeping was a little uncomfortable, wish I had got a recliner like most of the other ladies. However I’m still have swelling and some fluids on my stomach. My Doc informed me that it could take anywhere from 6 to 9 months for full results. I’m kind of scard to get back out and exercise from reading some horror stories. Before tuck I was walking 3 to 4 miles three times a week. I plan to get back out there this weekend and join the gym. Over all very happy with results so far. Can’t wait to get in my jeans again and get out of this Binder. Current using Mederma on my scar. How were you ladies feeling after 7 weeks?
