The upper arms are an area of self-consciousness for many men and women. Diet and exercise will not tighten sagging skin no matter how hard you work. An arm lift removes loose skin to reveal slimmer, tighter arms. This procedure can restore your confidence and let you stop hiding your upper arms from the world.

What is an Arm Lift?

An arm lift or brachioplasty is a form of body contouring surgery. It removes excess skin and fat under the upper arms. You may have loose skin in this area due to weight changes, the effects of aging on your skin, or other factors. Sagging skin can make you reluctant to wear the clothes you enjoy or engage in your favorite activities. An arm lift can give you arms you feel comfortable letting others see.

An arm lift can be performed in combination with other procedures, such as a body lift. People who have lost weight are often left with large amounts of loose skin. Tightening this skin has physical and emotional benefits that can significantly improve a person’s quality of life. Dr. Aycock performs a range of body contouring procedures to help you achieve your desired results.

How Does an Arm Lift or Brachioplasty Work?

The details of your brachioplasty depend on how much loose skin and fat you have in the area. The procedure takes place under general anesthesia. Your incision will usually be made on the inside or back of your upper arm. Dr. Aycock may use liposuction to remove pockets of stubborn fat from the area. People without much loose skin may not need the typical arm lift incision to meet their needs.

What is Recovery Like After an Arm Lift?

You can expect some swelling and discomfort in the area, especially during the first few days. Dr. Aycock will usually remove your sutures after about a week. People with low-activity jobs may be able to return to work after a week or two. Swelling will fade significantly during the first month and disappear after three to six months.

What Results Will I See After an Arm Lift?

You will see the change in your arms immediately after your procedure. However, swelling will keep you from fully appreciating your results for several weeks. You will see your slimmer, tighter arms appear as the area heals. Arm lift results typically last a lifetime, although you will experience some degree of age-related laxity over time. Your results will also look different if you have a significant weight change.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Arm Lift?

Most healthy adults with loose upper arm skin make good candidates for brachioplasty. Good candidates should have reasonable expectations, including the understanding that an arm lift does leave a scar. You may be a good candidate if you are bothered by the appearance of your upper arms. You should not have this procedure if you have certain medical conditions.

I finally had coolsculpting on my tummy and what a surprisingly easy treatment it was. Ashley the nurse was fantastic and she used the new hand piece that is smaller and faster. It was painless except for the 2-minute massage after the treatment but not bad at all. I’m a little sore today but this was easy-breezy and I can’t wait to see my results. I highly recommend it.
