If your breasts no longer look lifted and perky, you may be considering a breast lift to fix them. However, many people wonder what the recovery will be like, how much time they will need off from work, and when they will be fully healed. Dr. Aycock and his team will explain exactly what you can expect during your recovery to put your mind at ease.

What is a Breast Lift or Mastopexy?

A breast lift is performed to correct breasts that have sagged. You may experience sagging breasts after pregnancy, weight loss, or as a result of aging. Some women have breasts that are naturally positioned this way. A breast lift creates a pleasing breast shape and position so you can feel confident about your appearance.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

Dr. Aycock performs each breast lift according to a customized treatment plan. The type of incision used depends on the amount of loose skin removed and the degree of lift achieved. Incisions may be made around the areola, in a line from the areola to the breast, and in the crease under the breast. Dr. Aycock will discuss the details of your procedure, so you feel comfortable.

How Painful is Breast Lift Recovery?

Each person experiences pain in different ways, so it can be difficult to determine how painful any procedure will be. Most people experience discomfort, swelling, and soreness after their mastopexy. These effects are usually worse during the first few days, and Dr. Aycock will prescribe medication as needed. You will also receive detailed aftercare instructions.

Most people feel much more comfortable after the first few days. You can resume light activities after about a week, and people with low-activity jobs can return to work. You will not be able to lift things over your head for three to four weeks, so choose clothing that you can comfortably put on. You can usually resume your exercise routine after four to six weeks or when Dr. Aycock gives his approval.

Do I Need Breast Augmentation or a Breast Lift?

People who choose a breast lift usually have concerns about sagging and drooping. Those who choose breast augmentation often want to enhance their breast size or replace lost volume. If your breasts sag, they may also have lost volume. If you are happy with your breast volume but not their position, a breast lift may be ideal. Those who want to add additional volume may be happy with a lift and augmentation.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

The best breast lift candidates have reasonable expectations and are in overall good health. Good candidates have concerns about sagging breasts and want to restore them to a lifted youthful position. Only a consultation can determine whether a breast lift is the best choice for your needs.

I’ve known about Dr. Adcock for a couple of decades. He came highly recommended by a surgical nurse friend of mine. He has worked on my daughter and a close friend. Beautiful results and kind and friendly staff.
