A quality skincare routine and occasional in-office treatments can hold off signs of aging for a long time, but not forever. Significant lines, wrinkles, and loose skin might make you a good candidate for a facelift. This procedure lifts and tightens the facial skin for a more youthful appearance.

What is A Facelift?

Most people who have a facelift are bothered by sagging, wrinkles, and deep creases. A facelift is a customizable procedure that reverses signs of aging. Dr. Aycock has extensive experience in performing facelifts and achieving excellent results. A facelift has long-lasting results, and you can usually still see benefits after ten to fifteen years.

How Does a Facelift Work?

A facelift is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Aycock will use incisions hidden in the hairline to access the skin, fat, and muscle. He tightens all the layers, not just the skin, to achieve natural-looking results. A facelift treats skin laxity and wrinkles around the eyes, mid-face, and jawline. Many people choose to combine a facelift with other procedures that target their unique concerns.

What Procedures Can Be Combined With a Facelift?

While a facelift addresses many signs of aging, it can only treat certain areas of the face. Most of us have multiple areas affected by sagging and wrinkles. Combining procedures mean you only undergo one surgery and one recovery period

Neck Lift

A facelift can tighten the jawline but will not address loose skin around the neck. A neck lift is a popular addition to a facelift, giving you a more contoured and youthful appearance. It is an excellent choice for those concerned about sagging neck skin and fat accumulation under the chin.

Brow Lift

A brow lift addresses sagging and wrinkling on the forehead as well as drooping brows. If skin laxity around the upper part of the face bothers you, or if drooping brows make your eyes look hooded, you may add a brow lift to your facelift.

Eyelid Lift

The thin skin of the eyelids often shows signs of aging before other areas. A blepharoplasty targets the eyelids to tighten loose skin and muscles. You may add this to a facelift if you want your eyes to look as rejuvenated as the rest of your face.

Non-Surgical

Non-surgical options can combine with a facelift to maximize results. Dr. Aycock often recommends a chemical peel or laser treatment. These will improve skin texture, smooth fine lines, and achieve a more youthful glow. He may also recommend Botox® or dermal fillers to target individual problem spots.

What is Recovery Like After a Facelift?

You can expect some bruising and swelling after the procedure. You will usually have bandages covering the incisions until your sutures are removed after about a week. Most bruising has faded within two weeks. You may need between two and four weeks to return to your normal routine.

I finally had coolsculpting on my tummy and what a surprisingly easy treatment it was. Ashley the nurse was fantastic and she used the new hand piece that is smaller and faster. It was painless except for the 2-minute massage after the treatment but not bad at all. I’m a little sore today but this was easy-breezy and I can’t wait to see my results. I highly recommend it.
