Are you looking to improve your skin’s tone, texture, and brightness? Chemical peels penetrate a customized skin depth to treat mild to significant skin concerns. Dr. Aycock and his team offer a wide range of chemical peels, so we can find one to suit your needs and lifestyle.

What is a Chemical Facial Peel?

A chemical peel or facial peel is a treatment that uses chemicals to remove the outer layers of the skin. They range from light peels that brighten and refresh the skin to deep peels for lines, wrinkles, and scars. These versatile, customizable treatments provide an effective way to achieve your skin goals.

How Long Do Chemical Peels Take?

An experienced aesthetic professional will apply your chemical peel and determine how long it should stay on the skin. The peel’s length, strength, and treatment length will determine how many layers of the skin it will remove. Peels often last 20-30 minutes, although some, especially more intensive ones, may take longer. Your provider may apply a neutralizing solution at the end of your time to stop the action of the peel.

What Kind of Chemical Peel Should I Get?

Dr. Aycock and his team offer a range of skin-rejuvenating chemical peels. These peels typically use mild acids such as alpha-hydroxy acids that separate layers of dead, lifeless cells from the bright new cells underneath. Factors that affect how we customize your peel include:

  • Your skin concerns
  • Your schedule
  • Your skin type

Those who want to treat concerns like dullness, flakiness, and enlarged pores may benefit from a gentle peel. If you want to address skin issues like fine lines and hyperpigmentation, we may recommend a medium-strength peel. Sometimes, the same facial peel can perform either job depending on how long it stays on the skin.

Is There Any Downtime After a Peel?

A gentle chemical peel usually has no downtime. The skin may look pink for an hour or two, but you can return to work immediately, looking bright and refreshed. A more intensive peel might cause some redness and sensitivity that lasts a few days. Depending on your skin type, you may also experience some minor flaking. We will plan your treatment to accomodate your schedule and how much downtime you can put up with.

Am I a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?

Chemical facial peels provide so many customizable options that we can find one for you. Good candidates for a chemical peel want to address their skin concerns with a fast, effective treatment. Unlike many energy-based treatments like lasers, chemical peels are safe for all skin tones. You can benefit from a chemical peel even if you have dry, sensitive, or blemish-prone skin.

I finally had coolsculpting on my tummy and what a surprisingly easy treatment it was. Ashley the nurse was fantastic and she used the new hand piece that is smaller and faster. It was painless except for the 2-minute massage after the treatment but not bad at all. I’m a little sore today but this was easy-breezy and I can’t wait to see my results. I highly recommend it.
