If many people could have one wish for an aesthetic treatment, they would wish for a skin-rejuvenating treatment with no discomfort, no downtime, and excellent results. Chemical peels check all these boxes and more. Chemical peels provide a highly customizable option for improving skin tone and texture.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels improve the appearance of the skin by removing the top layers of dead skin cells. This rejuvenating process reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation, leaving the skin looking smoother, brighter, and more youthful. Different peels, ranging from mild to medium and deep, have varying degrees of intensity and downtime.

How Does a Chemical Peel Treatment Work?

Your expert aesthetician applies a chemical solution to the skin during a chemical peel. This solution breaks up the damaged outer layers of skin to reveal a brighter, healthier surface. The chemicals used in the peels can be alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), or trichloroacetic acid (TCA), among others. The type of chemical used and the solution concentration will depend on the type of skin concerns being treated.

Chemical Peel Recovery: What to Expect

Since Dr. Aycock and his team focus on light peels, most people will have no downtime after treatment. You may have some minor redness that fades after a few hours. Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and avoid harsh products or scrubs for the first few days. Your skin will be very sun-sensitive after a chemical peel, so use sun protection and avoid exposure as much as possible.

What Results Will I See With a Chemical Peel?

After a light chemical peel, you can expect to see improved skin texture and tone. The treatment can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as minor hyperpigmentation and acne scars. A chemical peel can also remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, leading to a brighter and smoother complexion. You can expect a visibly refreshed and revitalized appearance immediately following the treatment. However, it is important to note that the extent of the results achieved will depend on individual skin concerns and the type of peel used.

Am I a Good Candidate for Chemical Peel Treatment?

We offer such a wide range of chemical peels that almost anyone makes a good candidate. All candidates should have reasonable expectations about their results. Individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not be good candidates. People with active cold sores, open wounds, or sores on the skin may not be good candidates for chemical peel treatments.

I finally had coolsculpting on my tummy and what a surprisingly easy treatment it was. Ashley the nurse was fantastic and she used the new hand piece that is smaller and faster. It was painless except for the 2-minute massage after the treatment but not bad at all. I’m a little sore today but this was easy-breezy and I can’t wait to see my results. I highly recommend it.
