If you feel like your breasts have an unsatisfactory size or shape, you may feel self-conscious about them constantly. A breast augmentation can give you breasts you feel good about. Advances in surgical techniques mean less scarring and downtime than ever before, leading to results that make you feel more confident.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure for enhancing the breasts’ volume, shape, and symmetry. Breast augmentation usually uses saline or silicone implants to give your breasts the desired size and shape. Both types of implants have FDA approval and can last ten to fifteen years or more after your surgery.

Am I a Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you meet a few criteria. We recommend these pre-treatment goals to ensure your safety and satisfaction with your results.

  • You feel dissatisfied with the appearance of your breasts
  • You have chosen breast augmentation for yourself, not anyone else
  • You understand what you can expect after surgery
  • You feel prepared for the recovery time required
  • You have lost breast volume due to pregnancy or weight loss
  • You are in generally good health and can safely have anesthesia
  • You have no conditions that would make it harder for you to heal
  • You are emotionally and psychologically prepared for your changed appearance
  • You are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding

How is Breast Augmentation Performed?

Dr. Aycock will plan your surgery based on your anatomy, the type of implants used, and your preferences. He may make an incision under the breast, around the edge of the areola, or even in the armpit to minimize the appearance of scars. The implants rest in a pocket that may lie behind or in front of the chest muscles. This affects the final appearance of your implants once healed.

What are the Benefits of Breast Augmentation?

Benefits from breast augmentation go beyond the volume increase. This process can also provide symmetry and balance where your breasts used to look too small or the wrong shape for your body. Other benefits include:

  • More confidence while trying on clothes
  • Feel like your breasts match your body
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Restoration of your breasts after pregnancy or weight loss

What is Recovery Like From Breast Augmentation?

You will have some soreness and discomfort after surgery. This will feel worse during the first few days and improve significantly within a week. Most people can return to work in one to two weeks. If your job involves physical activity, you may have to wait. You will feel recovered after six to eight weeks and can resume your usual activities with clearance from your surgeon.

I finally had coolsculpting on my tummy and what a surprisingly easy treatment it was. Ashley the nurse was fantastic and she used the new hand piece that is smaller and faster. It was painless except for the 2-minute massage after the treatment but not bad at all. I’m a little sore today but this was easy-breezy and I can’t wait to see my results. I highly recommend it.
