What is a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is not just one procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Aycock will determine which areas of your body concern you the most and develop a treatment plan to target these areas. A mommy makeover may include several procedures during the same surgery. The most popular areas of concern are the abdomen and breasts, but a mommy makeover can improve many other parts of your body.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?

Ideal candidates for a mommy makeover have maintained a healthy lifestyle and have waited at least six months since their pregnancy to let their bodies recover. Candidates should not smoke since this impairs the healing process. You may make a good candidate if you have realistic expectations and are finished building your family. Women who get pregnant after a mommy makeover may lose many of the benefits but can have another surgery to correct this.

What is Included in a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover can include almost any treatment that helps you feel more like yourself after pregnancy and childbirth. The most common procedures include:

  • Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
  • Liposuction
  • Breast lift
  • Breast augmentation
  • Breast reduction
  • Arm lift
  • Thigh lift

You may choose to have other types of surgery, such as a facial procedure. Performing more than one procedure simultaneously allows you to recover from all of them during the same recovery time.

How Do I Prepare for My Mommy Makeover?

The first step in preparing for your procedure is to stop smoking. You should stop at least six weeks before your procedure. If you have not quit within two weeks of your surgery, Dr. Aycock will have to reschedule it. Smoking impairs healing and blood flow, which could compromise your surgical results. If you take blood thinners, Dr. Aycock will recommend how you should manage this.

You should prepare for your recovery ahead of time since you might not feel up to doing anything for several days. Dr. Aycock recommends preparing a week of meals in advance. You will need someone to help you for the first 48-72 hours, so make arrangements with someone reliable.

What is Recovery Like From a Mommy Makeover?

With the proper support  person at home, you will be able to go home after surgery.  You will be limited in your motions for about a week. After that time, you can resume light activities, but no exercise or heavy exertion for six weeks and no heavy lifting or core work for three months. . Expect that you will need at least six to eight weeks to recover.

“Dr. Aycock performed my liposuction years ago and I was so happy with the results that when it was time for fillers, I would not have considered any other medical group. Sandra is the injection nurse and she took the time to determine what my concerns were before the procedure. Then she worked on me like an artist, looking at me under different lighting and angles. I was very comfortable during the filler injections and couldn’t stop smiling. This is just the second day of recovery and I already see a major lessening of the folds around my mouth. Next appointment already made!” *
