Restylane® is a proprietary dermal filler that Dr. Aycock’s team uses to make lips look fuller and treat facial wrinkles. The compound contains hyaluronic acid, a natural compound in the dermis that hydrates and plumps the skin.

Juvederm® also uses a hyaluronic acid gel to deliver plumping effects and wrinkle reduction to your skin.

Restylane® and Juvederm® differ in how long they last, how much they cost, and the type of effects they can achieve.

Dermal Filler Overview

Dermal fillers are a class of cosmetics that Dr. Aycock’s team injects under the skin to plump facial contours and reduce wrinkles. They rely on a substance called hyaluronic acid – a hydrating molecule found in significant quantities naturally in the dermis. Over time, skin can lose this compound, leaving it looking dull, sunken, and wrinkled. Dermal fillers replenish this loss, helping skin to look more vibrant and youthful.

Differences and Similarities Between Restylane® and Juvederm®

Chemical Makeup

Both Restylane® and Juvederm® use the active ingredient hyaluronic acid gel to plump the skin.

Restylane® and Juvederm® also have products in their families that contain the topical numbing agent, lidocaine. This helps to make injections more comfortable.

Restylane® may be more suitable for patients looking for an affordable solution, as it tends to cost less than Juvederm®.

Types of Applications

Both Restylane® and Juvederm® are families of dermal fillers with products for different types of facial applications.

Juvederm®, for instance, offers a product called Volbella XC for targeting smile lines specifically.

Restylane®, on the other hand, offers Restylane® Lyft for deep wrinkles and facial folds, Restylane® Kysse for fuller lips, and Restylane® Silk for treating lines around the mouth.

Longevity

Results from Restylane® persist for around 6 to 18 months, while Juvederm® lasts for up to one year.

“My experience at the clinic was actually fantastic. The technician, Ashley, was super friendly and talked me through the entire laser procedure, letting my know step by step what she was doing, what was happening, and what effect it was going to have on my skin. As soon as I had a question about what was going on, she’d obviously fielded similar thoughts from previous patients before, because she would inform me before I would even ask the question. I was in and out in no time at all, but not all rushed. It was easy, convenient and just all-round a really great experience. It’s nice to be taken care of by professionals who just handle everything in their stride. Highly recommend :)” *
