Your facial muscles move to help you communicate expressions like happiness, annoyance, and surprise. However, some of these facial muscles are so active that they start to cause lines and wrinkles. Botox® relaxes these muscles to keep them from pulling on the skin, leading to a smoother, refreshed appearance.

What is Botox® or Botulinum Toxin?

Botox® has become the world’s most popular way to smooth lines and wrinkles without surgery or invasive procedures. This injectable treatment uses botulinum toxin, a compound that temporarily halts the signals from facial nerves to muscles. It is used to treat wrinkles and other concerns in many areas, including forehead lines, crow’s feet, neck bands, and lines around the mouth.

How Does Botox® Work?

When injected, Botox® reaches the targeted facial nerves and prevents them from sending signals to the muscles that cause your wrinkles. This effect is temporary and harmless, but it allows your skin to relax, smoothing lines and helping you achieve a more refreshed, youthful appearance. Botox® is used in such tiny amounts that it only affects the nerves where it is injected, ensuring that your face stays energized and full of life.

When Will I See Results From Botox®?

When you receive Botox® injections, the compound travels to your nerves and attaches to them. This process takes several days. Most people start to see Botox® results between three and seven days after treatment, with full results taking up to ten days to develop.

Once your Botox® results are established, you can expect them to last three to four months. Individuals who have been receiving Botox® for a while may see their results last longer than someone new to the treatment. Each person’s body responds differently, so your results will vary. We recommend using sunscreen and medical-grade skincare products to protect your results and help your skin look more youthful.

Is There Any Downtime After Botox®?

Your Botox® injections can take as little as fifteen minutes, and you can return to your usual activities immediately. This no-downtime treatment fits into even the busiest schedules, adding to its popularity. However, you should refrain from vigorous exercise for 24 hours.  You may notice minor redness, bruising, or swelling that can last a day or two after treatment. Avoiding the use of medications like NSAIDs can reduce the likelihood of bruising.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?

Botox® has been approved for medical and aesthetic uses for decades, and millions of people receive it every year. While this treatment is safe for almost everyone, good candidates should have reasonable expectations and want to treat lines, wrinkles, and other issues. People with certain medical conditions or those who are pregnant should not have Botox®.

I had a wonderful experience at this lovely establishment. The staff and Doctor are top notch. Highly recommend them for your beauty needs.
